CHARACTERISTICS: body relatively short and long tail; short limbs; back brownish or yellowish and belly whitish; narrow head and snout; ears and eyes relatively large.
FOOD: seeds, fruits and insects.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: more active during the day in winter; hides in places with dense shrubs and herbs; has developed mechanisms that allow reduced dependence on regular in water consumption compared to its closest relatives.
