OCCURRENCE: summer migrant but with a significant breeding resident population.
CHARACTERISTICS: white plumage, with black-tiped wings; long neck; long red beak; long red hind limbs.
FOOD: fish, crayfish, amphibians, snakes and small mammals.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: wading bird but also with terrestrial habits; builds large nests in high places; not able to vocalize storks communicate by beating their beak.
