OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: dark brown back, light stain on chest in the shape of half-moon, light inferior wing parts and dark tip; yellow, short and curved beak; yellowish legs.
FOOD: terrestrial vertebrates, especially mammals.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: raptor; usually inhabits high places and flies over vast areas searching for prey.
