GROWTH FORM: leafy liverwort.
CHARACTERISTICS: lobed leaves formed by a larger circular dorsal lobe and other smaller ventral with sub-spherical or helmet shape; with typical flat perianths protecting the capsules.
ECOLOGY: forms colonies strongly attached to the substrate (usually tree trunks).
DISTRIBUTION: widespread in Portugal.
