SUBSTRATE: epiphyte, mostly on tree and shrubs trunks and branches, especially near the ocean.
CHARACTERISTICS: grey-green on the upper surface, white on most of the underside but darker on the center; without apothecia, soredia very frequent, on the margins; the white underside is its most distinctive characteristic from other similar species.
NAME’S ORIGIN: Latin parmŭla, shield; Greek hypos, under; leukós, white.
