CHARACTERISTICS: grey back; long neck grey on the back side and white with black spots ahead; long grey-yellow beak; long and dark legs.
FOOD: fish, amphibians, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic insects, small birds and mammals.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: wading bird that flies with the neck retracted, unlike the stork.
