OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: brown colour with small dark spots on the breast; thick beak.
FOOD: seeds.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; prefers open landscapes where it vocalises on the top of trees, even during the hottest hours of the day.
