OCCURRENCE: resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: body laterally compressed; greenish dorsal side, ventral side white, pink or orange; large head and snout; eyes tangent to dorsal profile of head.
FOOD: macroinvertebrates and detritus.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: prefers deep rivers, with aquatic plants and and coarse-grain gravel.
