SUBSTRAT: epiphyte (rarely saxicolous), mostly on tree trunks and oldest branches.
CHARACTERISTICS: dry-green yellowish on upper surface, dark underneath; rare apothecia, soredia very frequent; each individual can become rather large, partially wrapping the branch; with a typical yellowish color.
NAME’S ORIGIN: Latin flāvus, yellow; parmŭla, shield; Greek Kápa, cape).
