CHARACTERISTICS: annual herb, opposite leaves oval to lanceolate, flowers have blue petals with a reddish ring in the centre or alternatively with orange, salmon or reddish petals with a purple ring in the centre.
ECOLOGY: cultivated or abandoned fields; ruderal.
OBSERVATIONS: petals with a hairy margin.
