CHARACTERISTICS: when perched, wings have a triangular form and are not larger than the abdomen; dark variegated pattern (black, white and dark-brown and reddish) paler in females; dark body with filiform flat-tipped antennae. DEVELOPMENT: indirect. ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: present only in the centre and south of the country, where it is frequent; feeds on short plants (eg. mallows, hollyhocks, hibiscus); can be observed from March to December on the edge of cultivated fields, uncultivated fields and grasslands.
