GROWTH FORM: acrocarpous moss.
CHARACTERISTICS: leaves lance-shaped, concave; seta long and sinuous; pear-shaped capsules, asymmetrical and sulcated when dry and empty.
ECOLOGY: forms extensive patches in cultivated, nutrient rich areas, as well as in burned soils.
DISTRIBUTION: quite common.
