GROWTH FORM: pleurocarpous moss.
CHARACTERISTICS: overlapping, sulcated leaves, with denticulate apex and absent nerve; usually fertile, with numerous cylindrical capsules.
ECOLOGY: robust, forming yellowish green patches, with erect secondary stems; grows on trunks and branches of adult and strong trees; indicator of ecological quality.
