GROWTH FORM: pleurocarpous moss.
CHARACTERISTICS: falcate-shaped leaves, with filiform denticulate apices and absent nerve; very variable in shape; commonly used in Christmas cribs.
ECOLOGY: grows on soils, rocky slopes and on tree trunks and branches; moderately sensitive to air pollution.
