CHARACTERISTICS: smooth and shiny scales; brown, grey, cream or yellowish dorsal scales with metallic sheen; extremely short and thin limbs with just three fingers.
FOOD: slugs, crickets, flies, beetles and spiders.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; quickly hides under the vegetation when disturbed; ovoviviparous; one to fifteen juveniles hatch completely developed.
