CHARACTERISTICS: smooth scales; yellow, brown or pinkish dorsal scales, with two dark longitudinal lines when adult; in juveniles these lines are linked by transversal dark stripes generating a ladder pattern; large flat head with prominent pointed nose; aglyphous.
FOOD: small mammals, wall lizards, young rabbits and hares, young and adult birds; nest predator.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial and a climber; very agile and quick; aggressive when disturbed.
