CHARACTERISTICS: brown-yellow or black bivalve shell with several concentric grooves; three cardinal teeth on each valve; right valve with two lateral teeth on each side; left valve with a tooth on each side.
DEVELOPMENT: indirect.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: originating from China, it is an invasive species; very generalist regarding habitat choice, competing with the autochthone bivalves.
