CHARACTERISTICS: long body with a long and thick tail; short but strong limbs with
foot webs; brown back and lighter belly; large head; snout with whiskers; short ears.
FOOD: fish, crustaceans,waterfowl and aquatic mammals.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: active all year; burrows hidden in the middle of riparian vegetation; elusive behaviour; droppings often found in high places (eg. the top of rocks).
