CHARACTERISTICS: perennial bulbous herb with green stem; flowers sepals red-
-grayish to red-greenish with red veins; lip petals dark red to reddish-yellow with
greenish tones.
ECOLOGY: meadows and shrubland and woodland clearings.
OBSERVATIONS: due to the pale colors, the orchids of Serapias genus are among the most discrete in this family.
