CHARACTERISTICS: annual or biennial herb with a rosette of basal leaves; yellow flowers grouped in flower-heads, sustained by a "foot" or scape.
ECOLOGY: meadows, fallow fields and disturbed places.
OBSERVATIONS: produces two types of fruit: the ones in the periphery of the flower (lighter and more easily transported by wind) and the ones from the centre (heavier).
