OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: brown coloured body; male with black neck and white stripes; white wings with black tips.
FOOD: invertebrates and seeds.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: steppic bird; hides among the vegetation; uses elevated places in the terrain to observe the surroundings; males communicate by flapping of the wings accompanied by a distinctive hissing.
