OCCURRENCE: winter migrant; small resident population.
CHARACTERISTICS: completely white plumage; long S-shaped neck; yellow long beak; long black legs.
FOOD: fish, snakes, amphibians, insects and crustaceans.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: wading bird; during the breeding season forms colonies that nest in trees near water.
