OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: full black body; long tail; strong and relatively long beak; smaller than a raven.
FOOD: animal carcasses, eggs, insects, small vertebrates and molluscs; occasionally plants and seeds.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; opportunistic species, can be seen on roads looking for carrion; vocalization resembles a rough ‘scream’.
