OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: brownish coloured back and
head, with white spots, white belly; long and slightly curved beak.
FOOD: insects.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; excellent climber; searches for insects in tree bark (holm oak and cork oak); nests in holes and crevices in trees.
