CHARACTERISTICS: yellow patterns all over the body, darker in the back; females with fainted colours; thick beak.
FOOD: seeds.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; habitat generalist; vocalises even during the hottest hours of the day; the melody is insistent and complex.
