OCCURRENCE: breeding resident.
CHARACTERISTICS: brown-greyish back, breast and belly; black and white wings with a blue stripe, black tail tips and moustaches.
FOOD: acorns, other seeds, invertebrates and eggs.
ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOUR: terrestrial; buries acorns to provide a food store during the winter months; mimics vocalizations of other birds.
